Currently one board uses the "proper" way of providing firmware
with the name ath10k/cal-pci-<pci address>.bin, whereas other
boards patch board.bin template in preinit and rely on a custom
ath10k patch to use calibration data from the template.
This patch makes all boards use the first method.

rocket-m titanium is a device based on ar9344 with 802.11af poe.
It doesn't use the SoC wifi, instead it's using an ar9280 connected to
the pci bus. The gps version of the rocket-m ti is working, but
gps is untested. The gps is connected to the first serial port.

TP-Link ships wr740n v5.0 to Romania (so probably everywhere except

It seems that there are maximum timings for mdio accesses that can be
hit when the system is under load and the thread is scheduled during
a read or write access. Since there is no way of knowing if this
happens as there is not even a parity bit, try to work around it
by disabling interrupts during any gpio-mdio accesses.
Performance impact seems to be neglectable, as mdio accesses are not
that often.
Hopefully fixes#19500.

AR8337 supports a configuration bit to swap MAC0 and MAC6.
Currently this is set in general if an AR8337 is detected and causes
issues with devices using an AR8334 (internally an AR8337, just
less chip pins).
And it might even cause issues with AR8337-based devices with
different board designs.
Swapping the MAC's however isn't needed for AR8337 in general.
It's just needed in case of certain board designs (affected devices
seem to be based on Atheros reference board AP135/136-010).
Therefore this configuration bit should be moved to platform data.
The patch includes the needed changes to the device initialization
code of affected devices. Hopefully I didn't miss any ..

The mynet range extender hardware is suffering from ethernet
link loss when booting with a recent openwrt image. This only
happens on 100mbps links, with 1Gbps speed the link was fine.
The cause of the problem is that the AR8035 PHY (aka F1E)
requires turning on and off the special TX delay setting
depending on the speed of the link.
The 10mbps mode only needed the proper pll value, which was
extracted from the vendor code.

They are useless, as the platform already selects the right options for
NAND support. The main reason for removing them is the fact that it
makes kernel configs more annoying to maintain on platforms that provide

In contrast to Image/BuildLoader, Image/BuildLoaderPatched first patches the
kernel command line in the image and then builds the loader without command
line. This allows building loaders for systems which don't boot correctly when
the kernel command line is provided by the loader (like the TP-LINK CPE series).

Most people report broken ethernet with upstream. Last year, user "franz.flasch"
authored a working mach-file. His patch is outdated so I modernized it. Original

I have figured out what the critical differences are between the two that caused
upstream ethernet to break.
1) Both ath79_init_mac() functions calls must be invocated before any GMAC init
2) must init GMAC0 before GMAC1
That was enough to get upstream to function, but I wanted to enjoy my confidence
having tested franz's patch for a week sucessfully, so I put his whole
function in, which only features more differences in order of function calls.
An expert should consider these changes, which could pose potential bugs/issues:
1) No longer using the flag AR934X_ETH_CFG_SW_PHY_SWAP in the
ath79_setup_ar934x_eth_cfg() call.
2) Possible consequence of no longer explicitly setting ethernet duplex/speed.
Review: With this patch, my ethernet and wireless works.

The ETH_RXDV_DELAY (17:16) and ETH_RXD_DELAY (15:14) are currently not cleared
by the function ath79_setup_ar934x_eth_cfg. Clearing these in the
ath79_setup_ar934x_eth_cfg may cause problems on some hardware because they
rely on the preset value by the bootloader.
Instead another function is introduced which also works on ETH_CFG on AR934x.
It can be used to safely clear and set ETH_RXDV_DELAY and ETH_RXD_DELAY on
machines which require special settings.

The commit r38948 ("ag71xx: add F1E specific feature bit definitions to AR934X
register file") introduced definitions for some bits in the RDV/RXD part of the
ETH_CFG register of AR934x. These are incomplete because ETH_RXDV_DELAY is
specified as 17:16 and ETH_RXD_DELAY is specified 15:14. The original commit
only specified the lower bits. The upper bits also have to be unset when the
lower bits should only be set.

The tx/rx delay bits in the ETH_XMII_CONTROL register have to be unset when the
enable_rgmii_rx_delay/enable_rgmii_tx_delay will be set in the AT803x PHY.
Othwise the throughput in gigabit mode is heavily reduced.

Open-Mesh OM5P-AN use a AT8035 (F1E) behind one of the ethernet ports. This PHY
requires special flags to work correctly. Otherwise massive packet loss happens
with active POE or when switching the link speed from gigabit ethernet to fast
ethernet. The generic PHY doesn't have support to change these settings.

The OM5P-AN boards are suffering from ethernet packet loss when booting with
some active POE setups or when switching to Fast Ethernet when previously
booted with Gigabit ethernet attached.
The cause of the problem is that the AR8035 PHYs requires special register
settings to work reliably on these boards. Enable the RGMII TX, RX delays and
disable SmartEE functionality of the AR8035 PHYs. Also enable the RXD and RDV
delay in the ETH_CFG register to fix the issue.

None of the LEDs are enabled by default on the Hornet-UB X2 board
(the 16/64MB version of the Hornet-UB), because it uses a different
board-name ("hornet-ub-x2"); but hornet-ub and hornet-ub-x2 boards

There were a few issues with the existing code to detect the model string:
* Always using the string starting with byte 56 would cut off the W of WNDR when
the ID starts with 29763654+16+64 instead of 29763654+16+128
* The string contained garbage after the zero byte instead of cutting it off
after the zero (which wasn't always visible using busybox tools, but could
confuse other scripts)
Tested on a WNDR3700v1 and a WNDR3700v2 using the new 29763654+16+64 ID in the
ART. Furthermore, tested against ART dumps of a WNDR3700v2 using the old
$'\xff...' value and a WNDR3800.
The [ -z "$model" ] check was dropped as there is no way to actually hit this
unless no ART partition is found at all.
The awk command was carefully crafted to work both with gawk and the (horribly
broken) busybox awk.

My previous patch regarding the Hornet-UB board
(commit: beed4d82d6a0154b0cd5f7b84e2180215ace6718) actually
causes the WPS led state to be inverted. Practically this meant
that value 0 in /sys/class/led/alfa:blue:wps/brightness would
turn the LED on and any positive value (1-255) would turn it off.
The above of course is confusing and hence reverting this value
back to the way it was before beed4d82d6a0154b0cd5f7b84e2180215ace6718.

This problem has existed at least since Attitude Adjustment and
is also present in trunk. Basically on the Hornet-UB board the
functionality of RESET and WPS have "switched places".
There are two tickets about the issue at dev.openwrt.org,
The solution suggested on them both is incomplete though
and introduces the following proglem:
Patching as suggested on #14136/#15282 will result in a situation
where simply pressing the RESET button on the bottom will cause
FACTORY RESET to be run. This is due to GPIO high/low state being
incorrect as a result of the above change and virtually the RESET
button is in the pressed-down state the entire time. When it is
then physically pressed, that causes the opposite, release, to be
triggered and since to the board it seemed that the button was
pressed long before it was released, the FACTORY RESET results.
The attached patch works as expected. I have verified both the
incorrect functionality as well as after fixing the issue as
described in the patch and flashing the resulting firmware to a
Hornet-UB board.

Previously, the generated images for the My Net Wi-fi Range Extender
wouldn't always work (and panic) due to the fixed mtd offsets and
sizes for the kernel and rootfs. This patch fixes the problem by
utilizing the shared Cybertan's partition parser to recalculate
the mtd partitions for every image dynamically everytime.

This patch adds corrected profile and build image for the TL-MR12U board.
Unfortunately i cannot test the factory image since i can't find anywhere
the original chinese firmware but
the generated openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr12u-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
worked just fine over a modified mr3040 factory image i managed to modify
to initially flash the mr12u from the original firmware.
Proper kernel support probably should be added since cat /proc/cpuinfo shows
MR13U.

This new argument is used right after starting regular preinit (which
happens if failsafe wasn't triggered). The main purpose of "preinit"
argument is to indicate that failsafe can be triggered, however we were
missing a way to inform user that we don't wait for a trigger anymore.
With this change it's clear when failsafe mode can be triggered.

It moves firmware patch code behind an extra check on board_name.

This patch changes the code of the Wi-Fi On/Off button on the TP-Link WR1043ND v2
from KEY_WLAN to KEY_RFKILL (and renames a few constants to match). The reason
for this change is, that the KEY_WIFI button code is not recognized by the
hotplug subsystem. This means that the userspace is not notified about the
button being pressed which effectively renders it useless.

Currently JFFS2 end-of-filesystem marker 0xdeadc0de is included the
computation of image's MD5 checksum as part of the seama header. But
OpenWrt will erase blocks including and after the marker thus
invalidating the checksum after the first boot.

Qihoo C301 has 2 flash chips of which one is used as primary and the
other is used as backup. OEM U-Boot will try to boot an activeregion N
with imageNstatus=0 and imageNtrynum <= imagemaxtry. If such a region
is found, bootloader will try to increment imageNtrynum and boot it.
This patch tries to reset imageNtrynum after each successful boot (if
the boot process reaches the execution of /etc/init.d/done).

[base-files] shell-scripting: fix wrong usage of '==' operator
normally the '==' is used for invoking a regex parser and is a bashism.
all of the fixes just want to compare a string. the used busybox-ash
will silently "ignore" this mistake, but make it portable/clean at least.
this patch does not change the behavior/logic of the scripts.

This patch fixes LED definitions for the DRAGINO2 board.
1. It renames the Router/USB led to System, as it is now marked "SYS" on the board.
2. It gives control of the LAN and WAN leds and some other GPIOs to Linux.
3. It fixes the active_low property for the LAN and WAN leds.
4. It sets up WLAN, LAN and WAN leds in the UCI defaults.
5. It allows usage of the System led by the diag.sh script, so it will be used to indicate boot and failsafe status.

While the AR9331 has a gigabit MAC towards the internal switch, the
integrated PHYs however are only 100-base-tx capable. The existing code
however advertieses gigabit capability in the link status word. If you
attach such a PHY to a gigabit capable switch on the remote end, with
some probability it attempts to negotiate gigabit and fails, falling
baco to the AR9331 assuming a 10mbit half-duplex link. This has been
observed quite frequently with the Carambola2 and gigabit capable
switches.
In ath79_register_eth(), "pdata->has_gbit = 1;" is set unconditionally
for both AR9331 ethernet ports. This is most likely wrong. Despite the
two MAC IP cores being gigabit MACs, the MAC for eth1 is connected to a
100base-T PHY via MII. The has_gbit attribute is used in the ethernet
driver to determine the supported link modes.
So either pdata->has_gbit is not set to 1 anymore, or the ethernet
driver needs to be modified to determine the advertised link code word
on another criteria than pdata->has_gbit. This patch implements the
former solution.

This sets the MAC address of the WLAN interface to the "official" primary MAC
address (the one on the label under the devices, and the one used with the stock
firmware). The MAC address used so far (primary-1) isn't even used at all with
the stock firmware, which sets (primary) on LAN and WLAN and (primary+1) on the
WAN interface (like OpenWrt does with this patch).

The OpenMesh MR600(v1) can only enable the 2.4G WiFi PHY LED through the
mini-PCIe device. Not configuring the LED pin inside the platform data
makes it impossible to configure it through any standard OpenWrt tool.

The RB2011UiAS is almost exactly the same as the RB2011UAS, which is
already supported. Hardware-wise, it adds a passive power injector on
Eth10. Software-wise, Routerboot passes a different board name on the
kernel command line. Hence the need for a patch.
Not yet working:
* touchscreen: doesn't work on RB2011UAS either. The touchscreen itself
seems to be driven by an ADS7843-compatible IC, but figuring out which
GPIO pins it's connected to is work for the future.
* control of power injector: remains off. Probably also GPIO-controlled.

The RB91x boards are suffering from ethernet packet loss after a cold
boot. The cause of the problem is that the AR8035 PHYs requires special
register settings to work reliably on these boards.
Enable the RGMII TX, RX delays and disable SmartEE functionality of
the AR8035 PHYs. Also enable the RXD delay in the ETH_CFG register
to fix the issue.

The 5V power of the USB is controlled by a GPIO pin of
the external WiFi chip. Setup the GPIO bitmasks in the

I don't have access to the specs, so I'm not sure about every detail, but I
haven't seen any problems with my test system, a TL-WR841N v9. It looks pretty
much like a QCA955x without PCI, a little twist in the clock calculation and
a AR9331-compatible switch.
Features not yet supported:
* EHCI (my test system doesn't have USB)
* ? (I have no idea if the QCA953x has any other features I don't know about
that aren't used by the TL-WR841N v9)

The ar71xx platform always uses the eth0 interface to provide
access to the device in failsafe mode. Due to this, failsafe
access is broken on devices where the LAN ports are connected
to the 'eth1' interface.
Update the relevant script to correctly set the ifname variable
for these devices.

I noticed that the patch at http://patchwork.openwrt.org/patch/4017/
for adding support for the MikroTik RouterBOARD 951Ui-2HnD had been
abandoned because it wasn't generated and sent to the mailing list
correctly and doesn't apply as a result. I have cleaned up this patch.
When testing this on real hardware, I also noticed that wireless didn't
work, so this patch fixes that as well.
This patch applies cleanly to SVN 39392.

The mtdpartsize macro triggers shell errors on various Linux distributions
when the partname argument $(1) does not appear within the partmap $(2).
Change the sed pattern to only emit anything if a successful substitution
occured and only evaluate the arithmetic expression if something was printed
by the sed program.

On recent TL-WDR4300 boards the external LNAs of the 2.4GHz
interface are connected to GPIO lines. Because these GPIO
lines are disabled by default, the RX sensitivity of the
device is quite bad.
Setup the GPIOs of the external LNAs to fix the issue.

The macro checks the size of the rootfs image even if
the second parameter of the macro contains the size of
an eraseblock. It is wrong because the size of the
kernel image will be adjusted to the next eraseblock
and the resulting image might be too large.
Fix the macro to check the size of the final image
instead of the rootfs image.

The r39147 commit introduces a regression: at lease on some routers
with ar8216 switch large packets get lost if 802.1q tagged port is
used on the interface connected to the aforementioned switch.
The r39147 changes code in the way so interface is set to accept
packets no longer than max ethernet frame length for a given mtu.
Unfortunately ar8216 has a feature: it sends two additional bytes
as a packet header and those this header needs to be added to the
max frame length. Otherwise long enough packets get lost.
The problem only manuifests itself if interface is used in vlan
tagged mode. If interface is untagged then ar8216's header fits
into space used by 802.1q tag and not packets are lost.
Include two additional bytes in the max frame length calculation
to fix the issue.
This patch is tested and works with Trendnet TEW-632BRP.

The built-in wireless MAC of the AR934x SoC can handle
external LNAs and the control signal of the LNAs can be
routed to any GPIO line. Add a helper function which
can be used to configure the GPIO lines.
The helper function will be used for AR934x boards
which are using externel LNAs to improve sensitivity.

The hardware supports large ethernet frames. Override
the maximum frame length and packet lenght mask in the
platform data to allow to use large MTU on the ethernet
interfaces.
Limit the feature to AR934x SoCs for now. It should work
on some other SoCs as well, but those has not been tested
yet.

The currently used bitmask of the maximum frame length field
is wrong for both models. On AR724x/AR933x the largest frame
size is 2047 bytes, on the AR934x it is 16383 bytes.
Make the MTU setup code model specific, and use the correct
bitmask for both models. Also change the value to the maximum.

Set the MAX_FRAME_LEN register to zero in ag71xx_hw_init()
and write the correct value into that from the ag71xx_open()
and ag71xx_fast_reset() functions.
Also recalculate the RX buffer size based on the actual
maximum frame length value to optimize memory allocation.
Additionaly, disallow to change the MTU value while the
interface it running.

The currently used bitmask is not correct for all SoCs.
Introduce a new field in struct ag71xx and store the
bitmask in that. Use the current value for now, it will
be adjusted for each SoCs in further patches.
Aslo use the new field directly in the ag71xx_rx_packets
and ag71xx_hard_start_xmit() functions and remove the
ag71xx_desc_pktlen() helper.

The bootloader on the WD My Net N750 disables the ports on it's internal
AR8327N switch by powering them down. The stock firmware then brings the
ports back up again by starting the auto negotiation process on each
port.
This fix implements just that.

Currently, the AG71XX_RX_PKT_SIZE value limits the received
frame size to 1514/1516 bytes with/without a VLAN header
respectively. However the hardware limit is controlled by
the value the AG71XX_REG_MAC_MFL register which contains
the value of the max_frame_len field.
Compute the RX buffer size from the max_frame_len field
to get rid of the 1514/1516 byte limitation. Also remove
the unused AG71XX_RX_PKT_SIZE definition.

The ag71xx debugfs code uses the network device name
for the device specific debugfs directory. Since r38689
'ar71xx: ag71xx: fix a race involving netdev registration'
the debugfs initialization happens before the ethernet
device gets registered and the network device name contains
'eth%d' at this point. If the board setup code registers
multiple ag71xx devices, the debugfs code tries to create
the device specific dir with the same name which causes
an error like this:

Make the Image/Build/CyberTAN macro more generic,
and use simple wrappers for the GZIP/LZMA variants.

In the current sysupgrade images, the CRC32 value of
the TRX header covers the whole rootfs data. Due to
this, the CRC value should be changed during sysupgrade
otherwise the bootloader refuses to load the image on
the next boot.
Change the image generation to create sysupgrade images
where the CRC32 value covers the kernel data only. This
allows to skip the 'fixtrx' step during sysupgrade on
the target.

This patch improves support for the device considerably.
1. The wifi didn't work in the initial release. This was because
the WMAC of the AR9340 is not connected to the antennas.
(However, it can pick up wifi signals, if they are strong enough!)
Instead there's a dedicated AR9300 chip on the same board, which
works.
2. Ethernet throughput is improved. iperf shows that the hardware
can sustain more than 200Mbit/s and no longer drops any packages
when the link is under load.

The F1E Phy (AR8035?) requires additional bits to be
set in order to provide a fast and reliable connection
over gigabit links.
When enabled, the link doesn't suffer anymore from a small
package loss under load and the performance is improved
quite a bit as well. (203 mbit/s vs 112 mbit/s, iperf tcp).

The current implementation of mtd will not append the backup
file created by sysupgrade to the correct partition, as mtd will append
the data to first jffs2 partition it finds. As the kernel is also
stored on a jffs2 partition (which resides before the overlay
partition), the data will be appended to this partition.
To fix this problem, a new option
-s <number> skip the first n bytes when appending data to the jffs2 partiton, defaults to "0"
is added to mtd.

In particular, phy_connect before register_netdev. This is because
register_netdev runs the netdev notifiers, which can race with the rest of
the initialization in ag71xx_probe. In my case this manifested in two ways:
1) If ag71xx is compiled as a module and inserted after netifd has started,
netifd is notified by register_netdev before the call to
ag71xx_phy_connect. netifd tries to bring the interface up, which calls
ag71xx_open, which in turn enters ag71xx_phy_start. This keys off
ag->phy_dev (which is still NULL) and thinks this is a fixed-link board,
and enters ag71xx_link_adjust. This looks at ag->speed which is not yet
initialized and hits the BUG() in the switch (ag->speed) in
ag71xx_link_adjust.
This is the wrong code path for ag71xx_phy_start - my board has PHYs that
need to be brought up with phy_start. Doing ag71xx_phy_connect before
register_netdev ensures that ag->phy_dev is non-NULL before
ag71xx_phy_start is ever called.
2) When ag71xx is built into the kernel, and netconsole is enabled, there
is a gap in the initial burst of replayed printks right after the netdev
comes up. My assumption is that netconsole is also triggered by a netdev
notifier, and part of this printk burst happens before the call into
ag71xx_phy_connect, so part of the burst is lost while the PHY comes up.
This patch fixes the gap - all the printks before eth0 comes up are bursted
in full when netconsole initializes.
ag71xx_phy_connect_xxx no longer runs with a registered netdev, so the
logging has been adjusted accordingly to avoid "unregistered net_device" or
"eth%d" messages in dmesg.

Append EOF markers to the END of the UBI image
file. This forces the kernel to erase all blocks
after the marker even if those blocks are not
empty.
Additionally, the resulting image can be flashed
from the original web UI now, so use '-factory'
suffix for that.

Extended the Makefile to generate a working factory reset image
for Netgear WNDR4300. The image uses UBI with two volumes squashfs
(rootfs) and JFFS2 (rootfs_data). In order to make stock U-Boot
happy, a fake rootfs image is placed into the last erase block
of the kernel partition.

Both Allnet and OpenMesh sysupgrade uses fw_setenv from uboot-envtools to
change different settings in the uboot environment. uboot-envtools version
2013.01 introduced a filesystem lock "/var/lock/fw_printenv.lock" to guarantee
mutually exclusive access to the uboot environment. But the path /var doesn't
exist on the sysupgrade ramfs.
An upgrade on these devices fails since r36033 ("[package] uboot-envtools:
upgrade to version 2013.01.01") with following messages:
Error opening lock file /var/lock/fw_printenv.lock
failed to update U-Boot environment
Creating the "/var/lock" path before running fw_setenv is therefore a
requirement unless the locking functionality in fw_setenv is removed or
replaced with optional locking.

The MTD layout of the AP99 based devices is different.
Add new macros to reflect that and use the new macros
for the DIR-615-E4 board.
This prevents overwriting of the 'mac' partition which
contain vital informations. The disadvantage of the change
is that the usable space is reduced by 192KiB. Blame the
vendors for the unfriendly partition layout.

I checked the GPL code drop from D-Link and tried to get the wireless
and LAN switch LEDs to light up. I found some references in
AthSDK/www/DIR-825_C1/bsp.h as well as
AthSDK/www/DIR-825_C1/rootfs/etc/sysconfig/S2gpio.sh, but in the end I
only got the led for 2.4GHz to work. Anyway, here's the patch.

Initramfs images are not generated for profiles which
are using the squashfs-only template. Add the missing
'Image/Build/Template/squashfs-only/initramfs' to fix
that.
Also, 'Image/Build/Cameo933x/initramfs' uses wrong
parameters for 'MkuImageLzma/initramfs' due to a
misplaced commma. Remove that to fix the generated
initramfs images.

Looks like trunk@37090 has changed the logic that determines
if router's button was pressed. This resulted in TEW632BRP
always booting into failsafe mode because it detected pressed
button (which was not pressed).
Measure with voltmeter has shown that buttons on this router
are actually active-low. This patch reflects this fact in
board configuration and fixes 'load info failsafe mode' issue.
Note: it looks like Trendnet TEW632BRP and a close relative
to TEW-652BRP V1.0 and D-Link DIR-615C1, so same problem may
exist on those routers as well. This patch doesn't affect
routers other than 632BRP and unfortunately I do not have
hardware to test this issue with other routers.
This patch fixes#13893 and is tested on actuall Trendnet
TEW632BRP.

Error in using another MDIO (AP123 platform using only one GE1 device
for eth0 and eth1) for the router mr3420v2.

This is platform definition for the RB951G device. It's mostly rework

We utilize many Routerboard 751's and discovered that our latest batch
of RB751's would not initialize the wireless radio. We have determined
Mikrotik has changed where the mac address was located inside hardconfig.
As such we utilize "routerboot_find_tag" to find the location of the mac
address. We should remove "RB751_MAC_ADDRESS_OFFSET" as it is ambiguous
by machine manufacturing date. The newer batch of RB751's that we received
had a RB751_MAC_ADDRESS_OFFSET 0x10.

WDR3500 is similar to WDR3600 except it doesn't have gigabit ethernet,
and has only 1 USB port.
Pending issues:
* Leds are not working at all (except power and wlan_5g)
* LAN switch ethernet ports are reversed with respect to case label.

The PHY_SWAP and PHY_ADDR_SWAP bits are initialized
differently by different versions of the bootloader.
This leads to broken ethernet connection with OpenWrt
on some boards.
Turn both SWAP bits OFF on these boards to make it
consistent regardless of the bootloader used.

According to #12421, GPIO 1 controls the power
output on the unused lines of the LAN2 port.
Remove the LED definition in order to prevent
possible permanent hardware damage.
If someone needs that, the power-out feature can
be controlled via the GPIO sysfs interface.

The original TP-Link firmware images can be flashed via
the sysupgrade command, however those may contain a
bootloader. Flashing such an image via sysupgrade
bricks the board, and it can't be recovered without
a serial console.
