# The Charles Wyble Show
## early years
### Tenant 1 - exclusive expert
#### the first time
become an exclusive expert at something. it's key.
from 14 to 18 years old i spent 10,000+ hours develping deep expertise in the micrsofot file formats. excel specfically. i am a co-author of the only comprehesive documentation outside
micrsoft. i was the very first person to request the formats after the consent decree.
9/11/2001 was the first day of my senior high school year
less than a year later at 17 i was recruite by the department of defense to support global counter terrorism operations.
why? i was the worlds expert on microsoft file formats (specifically excel).
yes terrorists use excel. i supported sensitive site operations (SSE) pipelines that sourced, colated, processed, exploited intelligence
in country to support industrial scale, stovepope counter terrorism ops
#### the second time
I .... "helped people do stuff". We will simply say "offensive cyber" , but you know before 2010. No , it's not on my linkedin. Only people who are glorified metasploit operators put "NSA Cyber Ops" on linkedin. Because that's not useufl OSINT for our enemies. I was there in the beginning and I was an early pioneer.
#### the third time
This little balloon project. It's nothing big and profesisonal like (insert co name here) #TODO , just some 30/40 somethings in a garage with a dream and a world
class leadership/founding engineering team drawn from our mid career rolodexes and relenteless pounding of the pavement.
### Tenant 2 - Get comforable being right
9 billion in capital spend for TWDC in 52 weeks
Thre people being my gatekeepers and nothing under 10 million in rev impact was worth my time
I was 25 . It was scary and exhiliarting
Critical path shot caller for million/billon revenue/capex make/break decisions my whole career
Took companies public. Lots of firing.
Make decisions quickly and own em. YOLO is real. Fime only moves forward
### Tenant 2 - OODA is all

Over the past year or so, I've been maintaining an 18/6 schedule (awake 18 hours, asleep 6 hours).
Here is how I am currently allocating time:
* 1am to 7am Sleep
* 7am to 8am Morning routine, breakfast , household maintenance (I will check email for anything urgent but otherwise stay off devices/don't consume content)
* 8am to 3pm In the office. I am listening to a variety of BBC (and occasional other sources) news products while working. I am available by e-mail/chat during this time, doing work that can get preempted, holding working session meetings with members/contractors etc. The daily grind of ops, or writing presentations or anything else.
** tue/thur at HQ (with an 1130 to 1230 lunch break with my wife) then leased space
** mon/wed at leased space with a brown bag lunch.
** Fri at HQ
** Sat at HQ/leased space
* 3pm to 7pm Deep work time (listening to music)
* 7pm to 8pm Dinner
* 8pm to 1am Workout, consume content, ponder on strategic things (yes 5 hours a day for reading/podcasts/thinking)

Over the last quarter or so, I have been holding (regular) 1 on 1 meetings with members of the TSYS board of directors and advisory board. I have been
getting high quality feedback, perspective, analysis.
The overall message is to be outcome focused. Delegate as much as possible. Focus on being CEO (get out of the COO/CIO/CTO aspects).
The immediate action that I'm taking, is to update this blog on a regular basis, with Daily Standup posts. This will ensure that I remain transparent and accountable to all stakeholders in the TSYS Group mission.
The posts will be updated as I progress, and then a "finished/shipped" label will be applied (and post will be added to that category).

# How I Organize My Research Archive
## Introduction
As (acting as of 04/14/2021) CTO of an incredibly complex product/services portfolio, I have a large amount of research material. I am writing this note on how I organize it and make it fully available to the world without any overhead on my part.
Short version:
### Documents
This means PDF, print to PDF of web page, other file types (doc/xls/whatever)
1) Bookmark the link where'er is appropriate in my taxonomy.
2) Download the URI to ~/ResearchMaterial
3) calibre (on Raberry pi) is using ~/ResearchMaterial and that folder is synced via nextcloud to the corporate file server so I can also use Docear/Polar/Zotero on my x86 vm
### NOtes
I use this git repository (notes-public) with a folder of markdown files.
I primarily use VsCode on the ras pi todo note taking (and of course longer document creation)
Occasionally on mobile (iOS), I use Buffer and the WorkingCopy git client to make quick edits or capture something when I"m out
and get inspired.
I heavily use Working Copy on my iPad Mini 5th Generation to do code review, issue cleanup etc and I use Calibre to load up a long research paepr and read it over. I also may access the folder directly via samba if I want to annotate.
## Source material

## More detailed version
### Taxonomy
I use a single taxonomy across:
* e-mail folders
* bookmarks
* home directory
* notes folder (this repository)
It is:
```console
ls
Board CEO CFO CIO CMO COO CTO dotfiles dotfiles-git landed notes-public personal PFVEMer
 ~/charles   15:03:47 
```
* Board
* CEO
* CFO
* CIO
* COO
* CMO
* CTO
I then have division names or project/product names under those folders.
More coming soon , still dialing things in.
