Stability of this Ethernet driver has been a long-standing issue, with many people reporting frequent "transmit queue timeouts" and even occasional crashes. Disabling TSO in the driver helps with stability, although it is likely a workaround and might not fix the issue completely. There is a slight slowdown in forwarding performance for TCP packets (75 kpps vs. 80 kpps with comparable CPU utilization), but this is still enough to forward close to 1 Gbit/s of full-sized packets across multiple flows. Master is using a different ethernet driver, so this is not a backport. Because of this different driver, the upcoming 21.02 release does not seem to be affected by these stability issues. Thanks to mrakotiq for the initial patch. Fixes: FS#2628 Signed-off-by: Baptiste Jonglez <git@bitsofnetworks.org> |

To build your own firmware you need a Linux, BSD or MacOSX system (case sensitive filesystem required). Cygwin is unsupported because of the lack of a case sensitive file system. You need gcc, binutils, bzip2, flex, python, perl, make, find, grep, diff, unzip, gawk, getopt, subversion, libz-dev and libc headers installed. 1. Run "./scripts/feeds update -a" to obtain all the latest package definitions defined in feeds.conf / feeds.conf.default 2. Run "./scripts/feeds install -a" to install symlinks for all obtained packages into package/feeds/ 3. Run "make menuconfig" to select your preferred configuration for the toolchain, target system & firmware packages. 4. Run "make" to build your firmware. This will download all sources, build the cross-compile toolchain and then cross-compile the Linux kernel & all chosen applications for your target system. Sunshine!
