The generic SPI code calculates how long the issued transfer would take and adds 100ms in addition to the timeout as tolerance. On my 500 MHz Lantiq Mips SoC I am getting timeouts from the SPI like this when the system boots up: m25p80 spi32766.4: SPI transfer timed out blk_update_request: I/O error, dev mtdblock3, sector 2 SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x6e After increasing the tolerance for the timeout to 200ms I haven't seen these SPI transfer time outs any more. The Lantiq SPI driver in use here has an extra work queue in between, which gets triggered when the controller send the last word and the hardware FIFOs used for reading and writing are only 8 words long. This is the buildsystem for the LEDE Linux distribution. Please use "make menuconfig" to choose your preferred configuration for the toolchain and firmware. You need to have installed gcc, binutils, bzip2, flex, python, perl, make, find, grep, diff, unzip, gawk, getopt, subversion, libz-dev and libc headers. Run "./scripts/feeds update -a" to get all the latest package definitions defined in feeds.conf / feeds.conf.default respectively and "./scripts/feeds install -a" to install symlinks of all of them into package/feeds/. Use "make menuconfig" to configure your image. Simply running "make" will build your firmware. It will download all sources, build the cross-compile toolchain, the kernel and all choosen applications. To build your own firmware you need to have access to a Linux, BSD or MacOSX system (case-sensitive filesystem required). Cygwin will not be supported because of the lack of case sensitiveness in the file system. Sunshine! Your LEDE Community http://www.lede-project.org
