This fixes a regression introduced with commit
5ed1e5140a80558ab47fd70410ae3242bed5becf ("build: build kernel image
before building modules/packages").
Before this commit the make target would always include "modules",
resulting in a MODPOST and a complete Module.symvers file. Since this
commit a MODPOST of the kernel modules is not guaranteed for kernels <
5.10. This results in some broken SDKs in which external packages that
depend on exported symbols from kernel modules fail to compile.
Adding "modules" back to the calls to the CompileImage defines fixes the
regression. For kernels > 5.10 this is not needed, but it doesn't cause
any harm either.
Tested with kernels 5.4.x and 5.10.x.

OpenWrt Project is a Linux operating system targeting embedded devices. Instead of trying to create a single, static firmware, OpenWrt provides a fully writable filesystem with package management. Development
To build your own firmware you need a GNU/Linux, BSD or MacOSX system (case sensitive filesystem required). Cygwin is unsupported because of the lack of a case sensitive file system.
Requirements
You need the following tools to compile OpenWrt, the package names vary between distributions. A complete list with distribution specific packages is found in the Build System Setup documentation.

Quickstart

Run
./scripts/feeds update -ato obtain all the latest package definitions defined in feeds.conf / feeds.conf.default -
Run
./scripts/feeds install -ato install symlinks for all obtained packages into package/feeds/ -
Run
make menuconfigto select your preferred configuration for the toolchain, target system & firmware packages. -
Run
maketo build your firmware. This will download all sources, build the cross-compile toolchain and then cross-compile the GNU/Linux kernel & all chosen applications for your target system.
